Halberton Preschool is a warm, friendly and vibrant place which was awarded Oftsted Outstanding in all areas at its most recent inspection in February 2016 - the latest report can be viewed at www.ofsted.gov.uk . It is run by well qualified and experienced staff who are committed to creating a positive, nurturing environment in which children are free to explore, experiment and learn through a variety of activities both inside and out.
30 FREE HOURS - The government are offering 30 FREE HOURS for 3 and 4 year old from September 2017. Parents can check their eligibility for the 30 free hours by visiting the Child Choices website at https://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk
If you are eligible, you will be given an eleven digit number which you will need to pass to us for validation. We would encourage parents of 3 and 4 year olds to take a look. Please contact us for further information.
Children have access to a wide range of resources and spaces here at Halberton Preschool. A typical day with us may include some of the following:
- time in the Wildlife Area exploring nature, planting seeds, using the play equipment
- time in the playground riding mini vehicles, pretending in the playhouse, experimenting with the Water Wall, digging in the sand, building with blocks.
- time in the classroom dressing up, looking at books, doing art and crafts or messy activities, free-play with a wide range of age-appropriate toys and games.
In each session, we offer a mixture of free-choice and more structured time. Some of our activities will be related to a particular theme, which changes termly. Recent topics have included: types of food, Our Senses, Books and Transport.
Halberton Pre-School, formerly Halberton Playgroup, was opened in September 1969 to provide pre-school education and facilities which were needed in the village and surrounding areas. Its aim is to provide a safe, secure and happy environment with a wide variety of resources and activities where two to five year olds can broaden their experiences and awareness of the world around them.
The Pre-School is a non-profit making organisation and is run by Halberton Primary School's Governing Body.
We have our own premises located on the site of Halberton Primary School which enables us to have excellent contact with the school. Our qualified staff attend regular training in the form of courses and workshops run by 'Early Years' agencies and all hold a Paediatric First Aid certificate.
Current sessions are held on:
MONDAY, WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY, and FRIDAY from 9.00am to 3.30pm
The Pre-School is now registered to accept 2 year old's (subject to availability).
